Love what you have before it's gone

Hey, it's Victoria. Have you ever thought you love something or someone? I you did, I bet some of you could relate to this. I have a story that's only half way done, and the second half, well only time can tell.

This is the story of a girl and her family, the girl, her name is Victoria, and she has LOVED animals for literally, her whole life, when she was three, she carried a young, not a kitten, but a young skinny cat to the door, her exacted words were "Can I keep it?" Of course they already had a cat and her parents said no. But she could never sop thinking about this old skinny cat. After a day or two her parents changed their minds and told her the news, she was over joyed, that was only one out of many cat's she would have though. Then when she was ten she came to the conclusion that she wanted a horse, after taking many riding lessons, of course. After about A year maybe, her wish came true. Her parents bought her a beautiful paint pony, her name was misty, her and misty were VERY close, a they still are too! And that leads us to September 4, 2010. For the last year, this girl has dreamed of having a companion. A companion that isn't small, like a cat, but isn't big, like a horse, she wanted a dog. Victoria her mom, and her dad, went to check out the Kent County Animal Shelter to search for the perfect dog. Walking down the isles of discarded pooches she came upon a beautiful cattle dog, her name was selena. Victoria stuck her hand up to the bars and selena gave her a nice, friendly lick. Victoria smiled and kept walking. But she then go this strange feeling. She ignored it and kept walking, she looked in the other room hmm a few good contenders she thought. Her parents asked her what dog she wanted, one dog quickly came to mind. Selena, without a doubt, it was selena. She told her parents and they went back to take one more look, just in case. Her parents looked and knew she was the one. They signed papers and all that, then they took us to a room and we played with her. A Blue Merle, Cattle Dog, full of energy! We loved it! The people who worked there told het parents to come back tuesday to fill out papers. They came back tuesday and filled out the papers. That brings us to today, September 9, 2010. Her parents returned to the animal shelter to finnish the paper work, then selena would be theirs to take home monday. The finished up the paper work and were left in the meeting room, to meet with selena again. But strangley selena just sat there and watched the toys roll bye as my dad tossed and rolled them right passed her. Suddenly out of no where selena started choking, and throwing up. Selena collapsed on the floor. Victoria's parents knew something was wrong. the worker came back in, she looked at the dog, she looked at victoria's parents, and she said " I need to take her to the vet." which was conviently inside the shelter. a few minutes later she came back with the news. Selena had kennel cough, pneumonia, a fever of 103, and an issue with her uterus. Victoria's parents were heart broken. When victoria's dad was picking her and her friend, hannah, up from school she, and hannah, were givin the news. Victoria held in the tears until she got inside her house, but then she burst into tears. Her dad had already bought a collar, leash, and ball, for her. But, the staff at kent county animal shelter said they'd do everything they could, because, they were just as attached to selena as victoria and her family were. It was a sad day today, for me, victoria. But I learned something, You don't know how much you love something, unti it's gone. I fill you in with what happens on monday. Wish me luck and please, pray for selena before you go to bed.
